Myfanwy Morgan is an up-and-coming musician, singer-songwriter, performer - basically anything creative that will pay - on the Scottish scene, or any scene that'll take them. They have surrounded themselves so much with the arts, that for as long as they've been aware, they've not wanted to do anything else. An awful lot of their music conveys a sense of queer joy, discusses socio-political issues and shows pride in their nationality. Their humour conveys that of an insecure artist (so they really are the whole package).

RECENT PROJECTS
Their Ode to Caithness
This is the first song Myfanwy has released standalone. They were able to do everything from compose, hire other musicians, hire a recording studio and advertise/market it, thanks to the generosity of Moniack Mhor and Creative Scotland.
This's an artistic culmination of the many thoughts they have had in relation to their gender identity and home county.
In the Spotlight 2024: Love O'E Fishwives
This is a song they wrote in Caithnessian dialect to honour their heritage. Their ancestor named "Labour Liz" was a 'weeker' (person from Wick) with a strong voice. In the late 1800's/early 1900's she campaigned for better work conditions for fish gutters - most if not all of whom were women and the wives of fishermen. They wanted to take that voice and add the strength of a part of their own identity and write a song that highlighted a queer love story.
They were given the platform to perfect and perform this song by Universal Hall Findhorn in the In the Spotlight 2024 project. They received guidance from their mentor Josie Duncan and performed the song on the Universal Hall stage.
STAGES: Cross My Heart
This is the first song Myfanwy ever released. Cross My Heart is nestled in amongst 12 tracks by the other artists that participated in STAGES, a project created by Moniack Mhor. They would like to thank Creative Scotland for the funding to do the project. Also thanks to all the mentors, Moniack Mhor staff and fellow participants for making it such a wonderful way to have realised their dreams of releasing music.
This's an artistic culmination of their journey from being diagnosed with Heart Failure at 22. They may be heavily medicated but they're still kicking.
ARE THEY ANY GOOD?
Idina Menzel (also known as Queen Elsa from Frozen, Elphaba from Wicked, Maureen from Rent and Nancy from Enchanted) has used the word "amazing" to describe my voice...That probably counts for something right?
Josie Duncan (a staple on the Scottish Folk scene and winner of BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award) mentored Myfanwy for Universal Hall Findhorn's In the Spotlight 2024 and had positive and powerful things to say about Myfanwy's work; "Myfanwy's really demonstrated the art of digging where you stand, and owning who you are through your work". Watch this video to hear the rest of her lovely feedback!
